Camping 2010 - Day 1

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

We went camping last month. This was Max' second time camping out. We went to the same place we went last year: Julia Pfeiffer park, about 3 hours away from home, but this time we chose a luxury spot. Luxury meaning it located next by a creek and only a couple steps away from the public bathrooms. We had a blessed time thanks to God and wonderful friends.

Stopped by a bridge on the way there

The kiddos were playing at the creek

Max inside our luxurious tent borrowed from our kind friends: Fenny and Marlene

Elisse and 3 babes. Can you spot the 3rd one?

auntie Fonda joined us too. Yay!!! She is such a heaven sent. She blogged about her camping experience as well here.

It's not camping without a burned marshmallow, right?

First time Max eating a corn by himself. Somehow... corns always taste best at camping. We tried to grill ones at home or park but it never taste as good.

Elisse marinated those super delicious teriyaki wings the night before and we grilled them on the fireplace in front of her.

As expected the babies woke up crying in the middle of the night missing their beds. Thanks to the water creek sounds, our neighbor couldn't hear - or at least were less bothered by- it.
I asked Chris to take this picture because this was one of very few time Max fell asleep in my arms. Since he was a baby he is used to fall asleep on his crib/ bed not on my arms so it was such a precious moment for me.
O... I don't know if you can see it but after many camping experience; we learned that our goose down comforter is so much more effective to keep the heat than our-bulky-zero-degree sleeping bag. Now we no longer bring those sleeping bags just bring our comfortable goose down. Ahhh... feel just like home even though I still missed my comfortable memory form bed. :P

So... that's the end of day 1. Stay tuned for day 2
