Understanding and Obedience

Max is almost three years old now and we learned that now a days the most effective way to get through him to him is by explaining things to him in the simple way that he can understand.

For instance, he would often got so upset (= wailing) when he caught Chris goes to work early in the morning. I've tried bribing, threatening, and punishing him didn't work. Then slowly as I hug him in my arms in attempt to calm him down; I told him, Papa has to go to work so that we can have a home to stay and food to eat. Otherwise, we will have to stay outside, sleep with cat (there are a few black cats in our neighborhood own by my neighbors). Do you want to sleep with cats? To my delight, the crying stopped in less than a second. "No, takut! Maxie mau bobok sini, no bobok sama cat." translation: "No, I'm scared, I want to sleep here, not with cat."

The precious thing was when Baby Wesley cries, then Maxie will be the one who does the explaining,

"Wesley no no crying okay. Nanti bobok sama cat ( = otherwise you will have to sleep with cat) :)) I dare not to laugh out loud just nod my head.

Writing the above story reminded me of Sam Earp's message taken from Colossians 1 two Sundays ago:

"We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father.." Colossians 1: 9-12

In his sermon he mentioned:
The Greek's thought: the most important thing in life is to have knowledge. The more you know; the better you are. For the Hebrews, the most important thing in life is to obtain wisdom. What really matters is not what you know but what you do with what you know

He summed up his message with this sentence:
God's gift to us is grace and mercy; Our gift to God is understanding and obedience

Forgive me Heavenly Father for I (like Max) often get upset when things doesn't go my way. Give me the wisdom to understand and obey.
