Good Book: Start Something That Matters

Friday, May 18, 2012

Lately, I have been reading Start Something That Matters by Blake Mycoskie. I heard about TOMS Shoes a little while ago, and became interested to find the story about behind it. In the world where the popular slogan is to 'Buy One Get One', TOMS promotes the idea to: "Buy One Give One." For every pair of shoes a customer purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. The book is filled with inspiring stories, ideas, and practical tips.
From the book:

Success
[Often attributed to Elisabeth-Anne Anderson Stanley]

To laugh often and love much
To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children

To earn the appreciation of honest critics
endure the betrayal of false friends

To appreciate beauty
To find the best in others
To leave the world a bit better
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition

To know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
