Burned Pot

Thursday, June 18, 2009

I was cooking Max's porridge when Max was sleeping but then I heard him crying. I immediately run to attend him and forgot to turn off the stove. :( Thank God, only the porridge got burned not the whole pan. Good thing I learned how to handle this kind of thing through an e-mail that I got last year:
But I still have to clean the burned porridge out of my lovely pan. Below are some ideas that I got from the internet that I found to be helpful:
  1. Wash away as much of the food as possible
  2. Fill the burned part with water add generous amount of salt (to the extend its cover the burn spot). Bring the water to boil for about 10 minutes, then turn off the heat and leave the water to cool for 30 minutes.
  3. Try to scrape away as much of the burned food as possible. Rinse well.
  4. Add 3 parts water to 1 part distilled vinegar to cover the burned food by at least 2 inches. Boil for 10 minutes and then leave overnight.

So I followed those steps and voila..... my pan is as good as it was before.
