Cooking: Sayur Asem - Indonesian Sweet and Sour Vegetables Soup

It's been cold lately so I have been cooking soup and soup and soup including this one.

The Ingredients

The Result:




Sayur Asam / Indonesian Sweet and Sour Vegetables Soup
Ingredients:
8 cups of beef / chicken broth 
4 salam leaves
2 pieces of dried galangal
2 corn cobs cut into 4 pieces 
1- 2 cups of green beans, cut into 2 inches lengths
2 chayotes, peeled, cut into 1 inch squares
1 cup of lightly boiled raw peanuts or fresh melinjo nuts (optional)
1 - 2 Tablespoons of tamarind paste
10 pieces of peeled shrimps (optional)
1/4 - 1/2 cabbage leaves
2 tomatoes
3 - 4 Tablespoons palm sugar, 
1 teaspoon salt or more as prefer

minced ingredients:
2 large red chillies
5 cloves of garlic
3 large shallots

Directions:
1. Make the broth by boiling beef bone inside 8 - 10 cups of water for 1-2 hour inside a pressure cooker
2. Grind all the minced ingredients in a mortar or small blender
3. Once the broth is ready, add the salt, tamarind paste, peanuts, minced ingredients, galangal, Salam leaves, corns, chayote, green beans and cabbage, keep cooking until until the veggies are tender.
4. Finally add the shrimp, tomatoes, and sugar. Adjust the taste as prefer. 
5. Eat with rice and chili sauce

    Terus kalo udah upload di picasa album then we can choose to embed the picture (choose the size) jadi ngak perlu upload lagi di blog tinggal copy & paste the embed link :)
