The days are long but the years are short

A little while ago a dear sister shares with me this quote: "The days are long but the years are short." - Gretchen Rubin. Every parent knows the words is true. Children grow so fast but don't we all need to hear that for time to time? I receive an e-mail last week about an older sister in Christ who is currently fighting the battle with cancer.

I can imagine how tough this time must be for her and her family. Through God's divine appointment, I met another friend who just lost a family member to cancer and she shared that the kindness thing that one can do to minister to the family is through letters, word of encouragement, or gift in the mail to remind them that we're praying, thinking, and loving them. Sometimes, a visit may not be a good idea because after she went through chemo her body is so weak and visitor could bring germ, which may be harmful for her. I'm so grateful for the input.

The e-mail was a great reminder for me. Who knows how long the time we have left on this earth? I was feeling particularly tired last week (it was that time of the month); and God gently speaks through the word of this song:

Count Your Blessing

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?

  • Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
  • Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
  • And you will keep singing as the days go by.

  • Count your blessings, name them one by one,
  • Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
  • Count your blessings, name them one by one,
  • Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.

  • So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
  • Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
  • Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
  • Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
