Joshua Tree National Park, where God answered a little boy's prayer

Monday, January 13, 2014

We went to Joshua Tree National Park last month. The wind was so strong when we got there. The sand and branches were blown off. We had a hard time to walk into the wind and Wes was almost flown. We took the above picture then immediately went back to the car. It was very COLD too. The temperature was about 40+ degree Fahrenheit.

Chris and I thought, "Oh no... we got to cancel the trip and drove back to the hotel but our boy got more faith than us. He said, "Mama, remember in the Bible, when Jesus calmed the storm? Maybe we can pray for God to calm the wind." I answered, "Great idea! Sure!" We then prayed and continued driving into the park. We saw a lot of this tree below. Can you guess the name of the tree?

Then we stopped at the spot where we planned to hike: Hidden Valley Trail.

Guess what? The wind did calm down by then. God answered this little boy's prayer.
Nothing is too small or too big for God.

So off we went exploring, recording, soaking up the place and the experience.

Although I love and miss their baby years, I am glad that I no longer need to nurse, change diaper, or carry them all the time. They were having fun roaming around pretending to be dinosaur in the dessert.

The Skull Rock:

Then we drove into the top point Keys Wes. It was super COLD about 32 degree Fahrenheit but the view was breathtaking. I feel like Heaven opened up. Made me want to sing the Hallelujah Chorus, "Hallelujah... Hallelujah... Hallelujah...." :)

Next, we drove to our last spot: The Cholla Cactus Garden

Precious moment, which last for 2 seconds before they start roaring like dinosaurs and playing tag again

The rest of the pictures can be seen here:

I pray that our family won't forget that day when God calmed the wind.

Mark 4:25-41

Jesus Calms the Storm

35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
