DSLR Bag

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

Chris and I have been talking about buying a small lightweight DSLR with video capabilities to replace our worn-out point and shoot. I finally agreed after he (out of his own initiative) sold his old D70 and two of his rarely used lenses at Craighslist (i love my man!). We bought Nikon D3100:

to be used with a lightweight lense that we already own: Nikon 35mm f/1.8G. We might sell the kit lens that came with the camera since I don't think I will ever use it.
Since then we have been taking more pictures when we are out and about for instance our recent outdoor pics and our pics at Monterey are taken exclusively with this camera. Now you know why we have been taking more pics lately.

Since I carry a mommy/ diaper bag and I am not willing to spend more money on camera bag, I decided to make a pouch for the new camera.

Got the idea and detail instructions from here. The only thing I add is the cotton batting between the lining and exterior fabric for more protection.

The Materials:

The Process:
I need to cut the fabric somewhere safe from the cute baby:

The result: Taa Daa

Even Max like it:

It's personalized too: noticed the sewing machine fabric ;)

  3. Btw, Vick, I barely touch my sewing machine after Wesley born. It's okay sewing can wait. Our babies grow up too fast.

  4. Adorable! I need to make something like this to protect my camera in my diaper bag.

I'd love for you to share it at my link party, Off the Hook:
